History
IBC was originally founded as a buying group for the independent industrial
distributor. The company's primary intention was to establish aggressive
wholesale purchasing contracts with industrial product manufacturers and to
provide member-distributors access to these manufacturers in a cost-effective
manner. It soon became clear that the independent distributor needed much more
than purchasing programs to survive and thrive in the coming years. These distributors would need to make
significant investments in marketing and technology to compete on an even
playing field with national industrial distributors.
To fulfill to the needs of
its member-distributors and preferred suppliers, IBC broadened its scope to
include networking services and support, marketing, industry intelligence and a
robust e-commerce & technology platform, while continuing to strengthen the
relationship between the independent distributor and manufacturing
community.
IBC's unique makeup also
provides a collaborative forum for its member-distributors to share ‘best
practices' and improve efficiencies within their community of non-competing
distributor partners. This formula enables
IBC to present their preferred suppliers an organized group of strong
distributors that translates into a cost-effective and dynamic sales
channel.

experience, technology and operational management (specializing in cutting tools, abrasives, and Bearing & Power Transmission).
